Job Description

A design engineer in the fabrication industry is responsible for translating client requirements into functional, manufacturable designs. Key duties include using CAD software to create detailed drawings, researching new materials and processes, prototyping, and collaborating with production teams to ensure feasibility and quality during the fabrication process. They must also ensure designs meet safety and budget standards, and continuously work to improve existing products. Key responsibilities

  • Design and development:
  • Create and modify designs for fabricated products using CAD software.
  • Develop innovative solutions for new products and improvements to existing ones.
  • Work with clients to understand their needs and translate them into practical designs.
  • Prototyping and testing:
  • Build and test prototypes to assess functionality and identify issues.
  • Analyze prototype data and make necessary design modifications to improve performance.
  • Collaboration and communication:
  • Liaise with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure designs are manufacturable.
  • Work with clients to present designs and gather feedback.
  • Communicate project status and findings to management.
  • Analysis and optimization:
  • Analyze the cost, feasibility, and safety of designs.
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Improve existing products and fabrication processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of all design work, including drawings and testing data.
  • Write technical reports to document findings and progress.

Required qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a design engineer, with a strong portfolio of work in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Technical skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is essential.
  • Strong understanding of material science, fabrication processes (e.g., welding, CNC machining), and manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to perform complex calculations.
  • Soft skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Creativity and innovation

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per year
