Job Profile

This is a full-time on-site role for a Dean Academics at Bhartiya Skill Development University. The Dean Academics will be responsible for overseeing academic policies and programs, managing faculty performance, ensuring adherence to academic standards, coordinating with various departments, and enhancing the overall educational experience. The role involves strategic planning, curriculum development, and cultivating a collaborative academic environment. This role becomes even more dynamic and outcome-oriented, focusing not just on theoretical learning but on practical, industry-relevant education.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Formulate academic vision and strategies aligned with institutional mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement academic policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Ensure alignment of programs with national education policies and global best practices.
  • Lead the design of industry-relevant, practical, and project-based curricula.
  • Ensure integration of interdisciplinary learning and emerging technologies.
  • Regularly review and update syllabi in consultation with academic and industry experts.
  • Organize faculty orientation, training, and continuous professional development.
  • Promote adoption of experiential learning methodologies and digital teaching tools.
  • Oversee faculty performance evaluations and establish peer review systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic delivery across all departments and programs.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and continuous improvement practices.
  • Use feedback from students, alumni, and employers to enhance academic outcomes.
  • Establish transparent and skill-based assessment systems.
  • Oversee internal assessments, practical evaluations, and final examinations.
  • Promote continuous evaluation through assignments, projects, and presentations.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among HoDs and program heads.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary programs and integrated learning initiatives.
  • Ensure smooth implementation of academic calendars and course schedules.
  • Address academic concerns and grievances of students.
  • Guide students in academic progression, skill development, and career planning.
  • Encourage participation in academic contests, research projects, and innovation forums.
  • Forge partnerships with industries for curriculum input, internships, and placements.
  • Promote skill certification programs and hands-on training.
  • Align academic programs with NSQF and sectoral skill council frameworks.
  • Encourage research culture among faculty and students.
  • Facilitate funding, publication, and innovation ecosystem development.
  • Integrate applied research into teaching and community-based solutions.
  • Serve as a key member of the Academic Council and related committees.
  • Ensure compliance with UGC, and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate academic inputs for accreditation (NAAC/NBA) and rankings (NIRF).


Eligibility Criteria

  • A Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline
  • A minimum of ten years of teaching or research experience, including guiding doctoral candidates.
  • Evidence of published work, including research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
  • Contribution to Academic Development- educational innovation and curriculum design.
  • Academic Performance Indicator (API) Score: A minimum score as stipulated by the UGC. 
  • Experience in academic planning and faculty management will be an advantage
