Job Title : Data Analyst Work Location : Work is remote; however Chennai location is preferred Position Summary: We are looking for a highly analytical and technically proficient Data Analyst to lead the design, development, and deployment of data-driven solutions for global sanctions compliance. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with advisory, engineering, and business teams to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable and efficient systems that support financial crime risk management and sanctions screening. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with advisory, product, engineering, and business stakeholders to develop strategic frameworks for sanctions compliance. Interpret evolving regulatory requirements and coordinate with regional teams to define and finalize business requirements. Translate regulatory and business needs into scalable, data-driven solutions and partner with engineering teams for implementation. Refine PEP and sanctions list definitions in partnership with advisory and policy teams to ensure comprehensive and risk-aligned coverage. Lead the full lifecycle of sanctions screening solution development, from design through implementation, ensuring alignment with business and regulatory objectives. Provide technical mentorship and business guidance to junior data scientists. Partner with engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment and real-time integration of solutions in production environments. Drive modernization initiatives for sanctions platforms, leveraging big data technologies to enhance performance and scalability. Conduct advanced data analysis to identify inefficiencies in sanctions screening processes and recommend actionable improvements. Analyze large, complex datasets to derive insights, support decision-making, and communicate findings to stakeholders. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in sanctions transaction screening, profile screening, and AML. Deep understanding of global sanctions programs (e.g., OFAC, EU, UN, CSSF). Proficiency in SQL, BigQuery , Python, R, Tableau, and Power BI. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced SQL and data profiling expertise. Familiarity with Hadoop, Hive, Jupyter Notebooks, and data warehousing is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data insights into business recommendations. Proven ability to develop data-driven solutions for complex challenges and foster cross-functional collaboration. Strong strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, and comfort with ambiguity.
