Cost Engineer

• B.E / B.Tech (Mechanical/Automobile/Production)

Minimum 4-5 years of automotive experience in the following job titles:

Essential Knowledge:

• Hands on Experience in Zero based costing of pipes & hoses, rubber parts
• Proto cost estimation & Supplier development costing
• Experience in cost estimation of metal pipes, connectors, Nylon hoses, plastic pipes
• Updated market knowledge on RM rates, Grades and suppliers.
• Experience in MHR Calculation
• Good knowledge of in-house / Supplier assembly process, MHR, Cycle time estimation and testing requirements
• Should have a knowledge in tool / fixture cost estimation
• Should be cost conscious and have the drive of VAVE ideas generation

• Responsible for REC calculation for all pipes & hoses parts of Trucks & Buses (Nylon hose, Metal pipes, Rubber hose, HVAC Lines, Brake hoses, Clutch hoses, Fuel lines)
• Define cost effective process for manufacturing various types of pipes & hoses.
• Variant reduction by communizing the parts & BOP parts like connector, valves communization
• Prepare quick estimation tools & maintain updated input factor
• Collect standard parts catalogue & maintain updated price list
• Cost Evaluation of change request & DTT Idea Generation during Project
• Negotiation leverage identification in RM, Process & Others
• Responsible for delivering on site support to procurement & R&D
• Support procurement to enable successful negotiation with suppliers·
• Analyzing and reporting the exact cost gap between REC and supplier quote during the time of awarding·
• Estimation, Validation and negotiation of supplier development and testing cost·
• Responsible for shared service support like costing, benchmarking to Daimler group companies globally·
• Responsible for evaluating the cost impact for change management process·
• Monitor and update calculation input factor like RM rates, MHR rates every year for the respective aggregate and commodity in calculation data base
