Job Description

Role Overview:

The Head of Labor Compliance will be responsible for leading the

overall compliance delivery strategy for our clients, ensuring adherence to all central and state labor laws. This is a senior leadership role requiring deep subject matter expertise, exceptional client management capabilities, and a proactive approach to managing risk, audits, and inspections. The ideal candidate will have strong team leadership skills, a consultative mindset, and a proven track record in managing labour compliance across multiple sectors and geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Management

  • Provide strategic leadership to the labour compliance division, managing a team of compliance managers, consultants, and field staff. • Develop and implement best-in-class compliance processes, frameworks, and tools to deliver consistent and accurate services to clients.
  • Lead internal capability building, including team training, updates on regulatory changes, and technology adoption for compliance tracking. • Contribute to organizational growth through thought leadership and continuous improvement in service delivery.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary compliance advisor for key clients, offering end-to-end support on labour laws, regulatory updates, inspections, and risk mitigation.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with client leadership teams, becoming a strategic partner in their compliance journey.
  • Understand client business models and tailor compliance strategies that are practical, industry relevant, and cost-effective.
  • Support client audits, due diligence processes, and statutory inspections by coordinating between internal teams and government authorities.

Compliance Delivery & Oversight

  • Ensure all client deliverables are met in a timely and accurate manner, including statutory registrations, license renewals, returns filing, registers maintenance, and contractor compliance management.
  • Monitor compliance SLAs and KPIs for client accounts and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure that clients remain compliant across their PAN-India locations by coordinating with regional compliance teams.

Regulatory Liaison & Risk Management

• Serve as a point of escalation for client audits, inspections, show-cause notices, and labour court cases.

• Maintain professional relationships with labour authorities and government bodies to stay ahead of regulatory changes and foster smooth compliance execution.

• Identify, assess, and proactively manage legal and reputational risks for client operations.

• Stay updated on all changes in labour legislation and ensure clients are informed and advised accordingly.

Policy, Reporting & Advisory

• Design and review compliance MIS and dashboards for internal governance and client reporting.

• Advise clients on labour compliance policies, internal audits, and remediation plans.

• Review and interpret complex legislation, providing practical guidance and legal opinions where required.

Key Qualifications:

Experience

• 1820 years of experience in labour compliance, consulting, preferably in a client-servicing setup.

• Proven experience in managing large-scale client portfolios across multiple states.

• Strong exposure to handling audits, inspections, contractor compliance, and statutory filings.

• Hands-on experience in managing regulatory escalations, litigation, and dispute resolution related to labour laws.

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, Labour Laws, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Additional certifications in labour law or compliance management (preferred).

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of Indian labour laws and applicable state-level statutes.

• Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong client-facing skills with the ability to manage expectations and deliver results under pressure.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills – both written and verbal. • Proficiency in compliance management tools, MS Excel, and dashboards.
