Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer with a strong focus on container orchestration and Kubernetes (EKS) to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience building, operating, and optimizing Kubernetes-based platforms in AWS, along with solid Linux engineering fundamentals. This role requires deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and security best practices.
As a Cloud Engineer, you will lead the design and management of our container platform ecosystem—ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance while also supporting the underlying AWS and Linux infrastructure that powers our applications.
Principal Responsibilities:
Containerization & Kubernetes (Primary – ~70%)
-
Design, implement, and manage AWS EKS clusters, including node groups, networking, autoscaling, and cluster add-ons.
-
Build and maintain containerized application environments using Docker, Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, and GitOps workflows.
-
Develop and enforce best practices for container security, cluster hardening, image scanning, RBAC, and secrets management.
-
Implement and manage service mesh, ingress controllers, load balancing, and multi-cluster strategies.
-
Optimize Kubernetes workloads for performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and operational readiness.
-
Support CI/CD integration with Kubernetes, enabling automated deployments, rollbacks, and environment provisioning.
Cloud Engineering & Linux (Secondary – ~30%)
-
Manage and enhance AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, Config, WAF, Lambda, Redshift, and Control Tower.
-
Develop and maintain Terraform IaC modules and pipelines using Spacelift.
-
Automate system administration, provisioning, and configuration management using Ansible.
-
Maintain secure and optimized Linux environments (Amazon Linux, RHEL, Ubuntu) and provide support for Windows systems as needed.
-
Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or equivalent).
-
Support cloud networking and security configurations including firewalls, VPNs, and identity management.
-
Manage vulnerability scanning and remediation efforts with tools such as Rapid7 and endpoint management via NinjaOne.
-
Provide documentation, cross-team training, and ongoing knowledge sharing.
Stay current on emerging AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement
-
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes/EKS experience in production environments.
- Strong proficiency with containers (Docker), Kubernetes concepts, and cloud-native ecosystem tooling.
- Solid AWS experience with networking, security, IAM, and core services.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, Spacelift, and Ansible.
- Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience working with compliance frameworks (NIST, SOC, PCI, ISO, CIS).
- Strong Linux system administration skills and general Windows support capabilities.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with logging/monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Splunk, Grafana).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex distributed system issues.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer M/F/D/V.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Security).
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar cloud-native certification.
- Experience with container security and Zero Trust principles.
- Familiarity with GitOps tools (Argo CD, Flux) and service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
