Role summary
The CEO will lead the Kolkata chapter with full strategic and operational responsibility, focusing on partner, NGO, and donor engagement, program excellence, and strong governance. This role is ideal for a senior leader passionate about philanthropy, comfortable working through influence, and committed to scaling social impact.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership; manage P&L and deliver organizational goals and impact metrics.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trustees, partners, NGOs, and donors; create tailored opportunities for meaningful engagement and giving.
- Identify, assess, and onboard credible NGOs; oversee impact measurement, governance, and necessary interventions.
- Conceptualize and execute fundraising programs and annual marquee events; enable and grow funding for partner NGOs.
- Oversee program design, implementation, and outcome evaluation; support capacity-building for partners and NGOs.
- Lead outreach and communications to enhance visibility through events, social media, and public speaking; ensure clear and consistent messaging to stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of finance, administration, systems, and processes; lead a small team and work with committees to ensure functional excellence.
Professional experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience, preferably in philanthropy or the non-profit sector, or with a demonstrated interest in building a career in this space.
- Proven ability to build credibility and relationships, and to inspire and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in collaborative project planning and execution, with strong communication, public relations, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution, along with excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and openness to diverse perspectives.
- Self-motivated, energetic, comfortable working independently, and experienced in engaging senior leaders from different sectors.
Qualifications and education
- Graduate degree in business administration, finance, non-profit management, public policy, or a related field is preferred.
Strategic role and key deliverables
- Lead chapter growth, manage the P&L, and ensure delivery of organizational goals and agreed impact metrics.
- Drive excellence in planning, performance monitoring, and overall chapter operations.
Partner engagement
- Recruit new partners and regularly engage all partners to build credibility and strong, long-term relationships.
- Create meaningful, interest-aligned opportunities for partners to contribute and see impact.
NGO engagement
- Identify, assess, and onboard new NGOs that meet Kolkata Gives’ credibility and impact criteria.
- Engage regularly with promoters and key stakeholders of partner NGOs and lead partners to ensure impact, good governance, and timely interventions.
Governance
- Enable relevant committees to assess and onboard NGOs, ensuring robust due diligence and oversight.
- Support regular impact measurement, design interventions to scale NGO impact, and uphold strong chapter governance practices.
Fundraising and program management
- Conceptualize and implement programs, initiatives, and partnerships to raise funds for NGOs.
- Oversee program design, implementation, and quality; evaluate outcomes and facilitate capacity-building for partners and NGOs.
Outreach and Communications
- Enhance the chapter’s visibility through strategic communication, social media, events, and public speaking.
- Oversee internal and external messaging, including regular updates to partners, donors, and stakeholders.
Organizational Management
- Maintain high standards in finance, administration, systems, and processes, consistent with good charitable governance.
- Lead a small team (1–2 people) and work closely with relevant committees to strengthen functional excellence.
