We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to lead a major migration initiative, transitioning from a legacy MSSQL/MicroStrategy environment to a modern analytics platform using Databricks, dbt, and Power BI. This role offers the opportunity to shape the organization’s analytics infrastructure, improve data accessibility, and drive data-informed decision-making across multiple business units. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions while establishing best practices for governance, reporting, and self-service analytics. The role combines technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Accountabilities
- Design and execute the migration strategy from MSSQL/MicroStrategy to Databricks, dbt, and Power BI.
- Rebuild, optimize, and enhance existing dashboards and reports in Power BI, ensuring feature parity and improved performance.
- Translate SQL-based transformations into dbt models and develop scalable data pipelines on Databricks.
- Establish and enforce data quality validation, version control, CI/CD, and governance standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Document migration processes, data lineage, and technical architecture; train team members on new tools and processes.
- Provide guidance on analytics best practices, dimensional modeling, and reusable data structures for self-service reporting.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in BI development, delivering enterprise analytics solutions.
- Strong expertise in MicroStrategy (report/dashboard development and platform administration).
- Advanced SQL skills with experience in MSSQL Server and query optimization.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and report design.
- Experience with dbt, including transformations, testing, and documentation.
- Exposure to Databricks/Spark or a strong willingness to learn cloud-based platforms.
- Experience in large-scale BI migrations and modern data architecture design.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, star schemas, and version control (Git).
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred: Azure cloud experience, Python for data processing, Power BI/Databricks/dbt certifications, agile methodology familiarity.
