Job Description

Role & responsibilities:

The Business Head is responsible for overall business performance, including strategy, revenue growth, profitability (P&L), operations, people leadership, compliance, and stakeholder management. The role drives sustainable growth while ensuring governance, risk control, and alignment with the organizations vision.

Business Strategy & Growth:

  • Define and execute short-term and long-term business strategies

  • Drive revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability

  • Identify new business opportunities, products, and markets.

P&L Ownership:

  • Own and manage business P&L, budgets, and cost controls

  • Ensure achievement of revenue, margin, and profitability targets

  • Monitor financial performance and take corrective actions.

Sales, Marketing & Business Development:

  • Drive sales performance, customer acquisition, and retention

  • Oversee marketing and go-to-market strategies

  • Build strong sales channels, partnerships, and alliances.

Operations & Execution:

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and service delivery

  • Implement SOPs, SLAs, and performance controls

  • Drive operational efficiency and process optimization.

People Leadership & Culture:

  • Build, lead, and mentor leadership and functional teams

  • Set performance goals, review outcomes, and develop talent

  • Foster a high-performance, ethical, and accountable culture.

Risk, Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and internal policies

  • Identify business risks and implement mitigation strategies

  • Maintain strong governance, audit readiness, and controls.

Stakeholder & Board Management:

  • Work closely with promoters, board members, and senior leadership

  • Prepare business plans, MIS, and board-level reports

  • Manage relationships with key clients, partners, and regulators.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive innovation, digital adoption, and business transformation

  • Benchmark against industry best practices and competitors.

Preferred candidate profile:

Experience:

  • 15-20+ years of progressive leadership experience

  • Prior experience in heading a business unit, region, or P&L role

  • Experience in NBFC, banking, financial services, or regulated industries preferred.
