Unlike a pure sales role focused on immediate deals, a BDM's focus is on the longer-term strategy of opening doors, nurturing leads, and establishing profitable, long-term partnerships. Their responsibilities can vary but typically involve prospecting for new clients, developing business proposals, collaborating with other teams, and analyzing market trends.  Key responsibilities Identifying opportunities: Researching new markets, customer segments, and strategic partnerships to find new avenues for growth. Building relationships: Developing and maintaining professional relationships with potential clients, partners, and internal teams. Strategic planning: Creating and executing business development plans to achieve the company's growth and sales goals. Client engagement: Reaching out to prospects, preparing and presenting proposals, and nurturing relationships over time. Market analysis: Studying market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform strategy. Collaboration: Working with marketing, product, and sales teams to align offerings and support business objectives.  Skills and qualifications Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities. Strategic thinking: Analytical and strategic skills to develop plans and analyze market data. Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills to close deals and build successful partnerships. Project management: Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines. Self-motivation: An outgoing and results-oriented attitude is often required.
