Business Development Manager


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients for Apave’s services and solutions.
  • Execute business development strategies, processes, and procedures across the West region.
  • Coordinate marketing and business development activities (marketing materials, campaigns, conference participation, exhibits, etc.).
  • Work with internal teams on capture strategies, proposals, pricing, and bid submissions.
  • Manage BD budgets and ensure efficient utilization.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives, conference presentations, and preparation of technical whitepapers.
  • Monitor market drivers, competitor activities, and industry trends to support strategic planning.
  • Review news, industry publications, and reports to maintain customer intelligence.
  • Ensure all BD activities are updated and tracked in CRM; train teams in CRM usage when required.
  • Identify and execute marketing campaigns that support sales growth.
  • Forecast sales pipelines, set targets, and track performance to meet monthly and annual goals.


Client Relationship Management

  • Build, nurture, and expand relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Attend client meetings to understand technical requirements and expectations.
  • Engage with new and existing clients to identify opportunities for collaboration and service expansion.
  • Communicate customer insights, needs, and opportunities to program and operations teams.
  • Develop new revenue streams by engaging potential customers and strategic partners.


Internal Collaboration & Team Development

  • Work closely with marketing, engineering/survey, technical teams, and product development groups to support client needs and business goals.
  • Support and conduct BD training for teams (sales, marketing, presentations, customer engagement).
  • Ensure teams have the necessary tools and resources for effective business development.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of business development and marketing processes.
  • Proven track record in sales, business development, or account management with achievement of sales targets.
  • Ability to build and maintain strategically important customer relationships.
  • Experience in identifying and developing new product/service areas.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to evaluate complex business scenarios and provide logical, sustainable solutions.
  • Relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of technical services related to testing, inspection, certification, or engineering consulting (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10 plus years of experience in business development, sales, or customer management, preferably in Inspections or engineering services.
