Job Description

Key responsibilities

  • Billing and invoicing: Generate and send client invoices, maintain organized records of invoices and purchase bills, and process payments.
  • Account management: Handle accounts payable and receivable, reconcile accounts, and manage client billing inquiries and issues.
  • Financial record-keeping: Record daily financial transactions, maintain the general ledger, and ensure all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Reporting: Prepare and analyze billing reports to provide insights on billing data, revenue variances, and outstanding payments.
  • Payment follow-up: Follow up on outstanding payments, handle renewal back-end work, and process monthly retention cases.
  • Collaboration: Work with internal teams, such as sales and customer support, to ensure billing accuracy and resolve issues.

Key skills and qualifications

  • Proficiency in accounting software, especially Zoho Books.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with data analysis and report creation is a plus.
  • Good typing skills are a must.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is commonly required.
  • Post-Graduation: Some senior or management roles may prefer candidates with a Post-Graduation in Management, M.Com, or an MBA in Finance.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as CA Inter, or other industry-specific credentials like Certified Professional Biller (CPB), can be advantageous.

Professional Experience

  • Relevant Experience: Most positions require at least 2 years of experience in billing, invoicing, accounts receivable/payable, or a similar accounting role.
  • Zoho Books Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience with Zoho Books and its modules (invoicing, bills, banking, reporting) is a primary requirement.
  • Accounting Principles: A strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles, practices, and financial regulations is essential.
  • Industry Knowledge: Depending on the industry (e.g., healthcare, logistics), specific knowledge of compliance requirements (like GST, TDS, medical coding) may be necessary.
