Job Title: Assistant Mines Manager
Department: Mining Operations
Location: Multiple Locations Across India
Reporting To: Mines Manager / Head – Mining Operations
Purpose of the Role: The Assistant Mines Manager will play a crucial role in managing mining operations for the cement business, ensuring operational efficiency, production targets, and strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations. The role supports Adani’s mission for sustainable development, combining operational excellence with responsible mining practices.
Educational Qualifications: Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Mining Management or related field
Certifications: Mandatory: Mines Manager Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted) – as per MMR 1961
Preferred: First Class Mines Manager Certificate
Experience Requirements:5–10 years of experience in mining operations within the cement industry
Demonstrated ability in managing operational teams and achieving production goals
Proven track record in ensuring legal compliance, safety standards, and environmental regulations
Key Roles & Responsibilities: Supervise daily mining activities including drilling, blasting, excavation, and material handling
Ensure full compliance with DGMS regulations, environmental norms, and company standards
Develop and implement operational plans and mine schedules to meet production targets
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, supervisors, and operators
Perform risk assessments, hazard identification, and implement corrective actions
Manage inventory of explosives, equipment maintenance schedules, and resource allocation
Optimize operations for cost-effectiveness and maximum productivity
Collaborate with the production, quality, maintenance, and safety teams
Monitor and report on production metrics, safety incidents, environmental performance, and improvement initiatives
Prepare for and participate in internal audits and statutory inspections
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, safety, and sustainability
Technical Skills: Expertise in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Minex, Datamine, AutoCAD)
Sound understanding of blasting techniques, mining equipment, and load/haul cycles
Strong knowledge of DGMS regulations, MMR 1961, and environmental compliance
Proficiency in production scheduling, resource optimization, and cost control
Familiarity with regulatory reporting and statutory documentation
Behavioural Skills: Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
High adaptability to challenging field conditions and remote locations
Strong problem-solving ability with attention to detail
Commitment to safety, ethical practices, and sustainability
Ability to handle stress, deadlines, and operational crises
Non-Negotiable Skills: Proven experience in cement industry mining operations
Valid Unrestricted Mines Manager Certificate of Competency (MMR 1961)
Strong knowledge of mining safety, legal requirements, and operational leadership
Demonstrated ability in team management, performance monitoring, and operational excellence
