Job Responsibilities:

The Assistant Manager – Credit plays a key role in evaluating the creditworthiness of loan applicants, monitoring credit risk, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and supporting the overall credit approval process. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of credit principles and financial analysis.

  • Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to assess the creditworthiness of individuals or businesses.
  • Conduct risk analysis and recommend appropriate credit limits and terms.
  • Perform due diligence on new and existing clients to identify potential risks.
  • Prepare detailed credit appraisal memos for review by senior management or credit committees.
  • Assist in the processing and approval of credit applications in accordance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure timely disbursal of approved loans or credit facilities.
  • Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure documentation is in place and up to standard.
  • Monitor loan accounts for early warning signals of financial distress or irregularities.
  • Track portfolio performance and flag high-risk accounts.
  • Prepare regular MIS reports on credit status, risk exposure, and exceptions.
  • Ensure all credit approvals comply with internal credit policies, regulatory standards, and risk appetite frameworks.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Liaise with sales, operations, legal, and risk teams for smooth processing and management of credit-related matters.
  • Interact with customers when needed to clarify application details or resolve disputes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA/CA/CFA preferred).
  • 2–4 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or risk assessment (depending on the industry).
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Good understanding of credit risk, regulatory norms (e.g., RBI/Basel guidelines), and lending processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, financial tools, and credit scoring models.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
