Job Description:

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing, recording, and controlling costs related to garment production. This role involves monitoring material, labor, and overhead costs, preparing cost sheets, supporting pricing decisions, and ensuring accurate financial reporting to improve profitability and cost efficiency within the garment manufacturing process.

Responsibilities:

Costing & Budgeting

• Prepare and maintain cost sheets for each style, order, and product line.
• Analyze material consumption, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption.
• Support management in budgeting and variance analysis.
• Ensure costing aligns with buyer price negotiations and profitability targets.

2. Production Cost Control

• Track fabric, trims, accessories, and other raw material consumption against standards.
• Monitor wastage, rejections, and suggest cost optimization measures.
• Liaise with merchandising, production, and stores teams to validate consumption reports.

3. Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare MIS reports on cost performance, profitability, and deviations.
• Conduct margin analysis for different buyers, products, and orders.
• Provide cost insights for decision-making on pricing, product mix, and process improvements.

4. Compliance & Audit

• Ensure compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and statutory requirements.
• Assist in internal and external audits related to cost records.
• Maintain accurate documentation of costing processes.

5. Cross-Functional Support

• Work closely with finance, purchase, and production teams to streamline cost control.
• Provide costing data for quotations, tenders, and new product developments.
• Support management with ad-hoc financial and cost-related analysis.

Requirements:

· Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and standards.

· Proficiency in garment industry costing (fabric, trims, labour, overheads).

· Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems (Tally, SAP, or similar).

· Advanced Excel and analytical skills.

· Attention to detail and accuracy.

· Strong communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: CMA/ICWA (Cost & Management Accountant) preferred, or MBA (Finance/Accounts).
• Experience: 7 to 10 years of experience in costing, preferably in the garment/apparel/textile industry.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
