Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision:

  • Develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan for alumni engagement that aligns with the institute's overall mission and advancement goals.
  • Set measurable objectives for alumni participation, event attendance, fundraising, and communication reach.
  • Conduct regular analysis of program effectiveness and adapt strategies based on data and alumni feedback.

Alumni Relations & Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong, personalized relationships with a diverse range of alumni, including key volunteers, donors, and chapter leaders.
  • Oversee the Alumni Association, including its advisory board or leadership council: recruit members, organize meetings, and facilitate their work.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of high-potential alumni for personalized engagement and stewardship.

Program & Event Management:

  • Plan, promote, and execute a wide array of engaging alumni programs, both virtual and in-person, including:
  • Reunions, homecoming, and networking events.
  • Professional development webinars, mentorship mixers, and career panels.
  • Regional chapter events and international alumni gatherings.
  • Cultural and social events to foster community spirit.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and career services to create value-added programs for alumni.

Communication & Marketing:

  • Develop and manage a robust communication strategy to keep alumni informed and connected.
  • Oversee the production and distribution of alumni publications (e.g., e-newsletters, magazines), social media content, and website updates.
  • Ensure the alumni database is leveraged effectively for targeted and personalized communication.

Data Management & Analytics:

  • Oversee the integrity and strategic use of the alumni database (e.g., AlmaConnect).
  • Track alumni interactions, event attendance, and giving history to segment audiences and personalize outreach.
  • Generate reports on engagement metrics to demonstrate ROI and inform future strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Career Services to strengthen job placement and internship opportunities for current students and recent graduates.
  • Work with Marketing to ensure a consistent institutional brand message across all alumni touchpoints.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-7 years of proven experience in alumni relations, development, nonprofit management, marketing, or a related client-facing role.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Strong event planning and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with CRM databases and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in an educational.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
  • Experience managing volunteers and advisory boards.
  • Data analytics skills to measure and report on engagement metrics.
