Medhavi Skills University (MSU) is a government-notified private skills university established under a State Act in Sikkim, dedicated to promoting quality skill education and entrepreneurship integrated with higher education. As a pioneering institution in the convergence of the skilling ecosystem with higher education, MSU aligns with the National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP 2020). Medhavi Skills University (MSU) has launched the WISE initiative to enhance employability and support job creation by equipping individuals with industry-relevant theoretical knowledge and on the-job training. This initiative fosters collaborative efforts between MSU and various industries,
creating a mutually beneficial relationship. Through the concept of "Industry as Campus," students gain a competitive edge by acquiring practical skills directly from industry experts. Role Overview:
Medhavi Skills University (MSU) is pioneering the Industry as Campus – Hotel & Hospitality Management (IAC HHM) model, a first-of-its-kind industry-integrated “Learn & Earn” program. Students learn directly on the job in leading hotels, resorts, and hospitality chains like IHG Hotels & Resorts, ITC Hotels, Marriott Hotels, The Leela, Radisson Blu etc while earning stipends, gaining academic qualifications and achieving industry-ready skills.
The VP/AVP will be responsible for end-to-end leadership of this vertical – driving industry partnerships, business growth, operational excellence, student recruitment, academic quality, and placement outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Hotel Management Vertical as a standalone P&L unit under MSU’s Industry as Campus (IAC) model.
- Develop strategic plans for vertical growth, market expansion, and long-term sustainability.
- Monitor KPIs on revenue, student intake, placement rate, and industry partner satisfaction.
2. Industry & Partnership Development
- Build and nurture strategic partnerships with top hotels, resorts, and hospitality groups (domestic & international).
- Negotiate MoUs and long-term agreements for training, internships, and placements.
- Collaborate with industry bodies and associations to position MSU as the preferred skilling partner.
3. Operations & Program Delivery
- Oversee seamless operations of the IAC HHM program across partner locations.
- Ensure effective coordination between MSU’s academic team, industry mentors, and partner institutions.
- Implement SOPs for training, assessments, compliance, and student welfare at partner sites.
4. Academic Excellence
- Work with the Dean/Academic Heads to ensure curriculum is industry-relevant and experiential.
- Introduce innovations in teaching, learning, and skill assessment tailored to hospitality industry needs.
- Maintain high student satisfaction and learning outcomes through quality delivery.
5. Student Recruitment & Placement
- Lead student recruitment drives in collaboration with the admissions & marketing teams.
- Drive placement initiatives ensuring 100% career outcomes for graduates.
- Organize career fairs, industry talks, and immersion programs.
6. Branding & Representation
- Represent MSU and IAC HHM in industry forums, events, and conferences.
- Work closely with marketing for brand building, PR, and digital presence of the vertical.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Education: MBA / master’s in hospitality, Hotel Management, or related field.
- Experience: 12–18 years in leadership roles in hospitality education, hotel operations, or industry partnerships.
- Proven track record in business development, industry relations, and academic program leadership.
Strong network in the hospitality & tourism sector.
