Tool & Die Maker Department: Tool Room / Production Engineering Industry: Submersible, Centrifugal Pump & Motor Manufacturing Location: Naroda GIDC Phase – 4, Ahmedabad Reports To: Tool Room In-Charge / Production Manager Job Summary:The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for the design, manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in the production of submersible and centrifugal pump and motor components. The role ensures high accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of all tooling to support consistent production quality and minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities: 1. Tool & Die Manufacturing ·        Fabricate, assemble, and fit precision tools, press dies, moulds, jigs, and fixtures used in pump and motor production lines. ·        Operate conventional and CNC machines such as lathe, milling, surface grinder, wire-cut EDM, and spark EDM to achieve required tolerances. ·        Manufacture dies for sheet metal parts, impeller blades, motor housings, and other precision components. 2. Tool Maintenance& Repair ·        Inspect and troubleshoot tooling issues during production; perform necessary repairs and adjustments. ·        Conduct preventive maintenance of dies, jigs, and fixtures to avoid breakdowns and ensure continuous operations. ·        Maintain tool performance logs and repair histories.   3. Support to Product & Process Development ·        Collaborate with design, R&D, and production teams to develop new tools and dies for pump and motor components. ·        Suggest design modifications to enhance tool life, improve production efficiency, and reduce scrap or rework. ·        Participate in trial runs for new dies and validate their performance as per drawing specifications. 4. Quality Assurance ·        Ensure all tools and dies meet dimensional accuracy, tolerance, and surface finish requirements. ·        Use precision measuring instruments (micrometres, vernier calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.) to inspect parts. ·        Comply with ISO and company-specific quality standards. 5. Safety & Documentation ·        Follow all safety procedures while handling machines, materials, and heat treatment processes. ·        Maintain records of tool drawings, modifications, and preventive maintenance schedules. ·        Report tool performance and breakdown data to the Tool Room In-Charge. Qualifications & Experience: ·        Education: o   ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making or Mechanical Engineering. o   Certified apprenticeship in Tool & Die Making (preferred). ·        Experience: o   3–8 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker in submersible pump, centrifugal pump, or electric motor manufacturing industry. ·        Technical Skills: o   Strong knowledge of die design, tool fitting, and machining operations. o   Experience in machining precision components using lathe, milling, grinding, EDM, and CNC machines. o   Familiarity with tooling for components like impellers, diffusers, pump casings, stator housings, and rotor parts. o   Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and 3D CAD models. o   Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam). o   Knowledge of materials used for tools (HCHC, D2, EN31, etc.) and heat treatment processes.   Soft Skills: o   Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. o   Attention to detail and precision workmanship. o   Good communication and teamwork. o   Commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Working Conditions: ·        Workshop and production floor environment. ·        May require shift work or overtime based on production schedules. ·        Involves working with high-precision tools and heavy equipment.
