TeMIP Engineer L3

Education & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 6 to 8+ years of professional experience in telecom/IT operations.
  

Mandatory Skills

Core Expertise:

• Strong working knowledge of TeMIP and OpenNMS for fault and event management.
• Proficient in Linux basics: command-line operations, system navigation, and basic scripting (shell/awk/sed).
• Solid understanding of telecom OSS, including alarm flow from EMS (Element Management System) to NMS.
• Familiarity with fault management processes and alarm correlation mechanisms.
• Ability to conduct system health checks, monitor TeMIP processes and services, and perform first-level fault/incident analysis.
  

Technical Knowledge

• Alarm handling: enrichment, resync, TeMIP filters/rules.
• Experience with TeMIP low-level filters: Corrective, Tap, Transient, Threshold, Heap, and Toggling filters.
• Knowledge of Alarm Beautifier for improving alarm readability and operator efficiency.
• Proficiency in trap testing, TCP log collection, and log analysis for diagnostics.
• Direct NMS/EMS integration (TCP_CC/TELNET/TCP_CC2/OPEN_CC creation, net-snmp configuration).
• Ability to design custom solutions based on operational requirements.
  

Operational Responsibilities

• Regular reporting and escalation of recurring or critical issues to L3 support teams, tracking through closure.
• Preparation of SOPs, workarounds, and documentation of known issues.
• SSL Certificate Renewal: Tracking, coordination with security teams, and seamless renewal.
• Application Upgrade in SIT/DEV: Performing pre-upgrade checks, assisting with deployments, and validating post-upgrade functionality.
• Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment.
  

Preferred Skills (Nice To Have)

• Scripting experience (Shell/Python) for automation of routine tasks.
• Exposure to ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
• Understanding of SNMP, syslog, and telemetry protocols.
• Experience with reporting tools and KPI/metrics dashboards.
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
