Job Description

Job Title: Indirect Tax Specialist Location: [Insert Location] Department: Finance / Taxation Reports To: Head – Taxation / CFO Experience Required: 5+ years in Indirect Taxation Industry Type: Manufacturing / FMCG / Consulting / Similar Roles and Responsibilities:Provide expert Indirect Tax Advisory and ensure tax compliance across various business units. Handle tax litigation, including drafting replies, preparing appeals, and representing the company before tax authorities for both erstwhile laws (VAT, Excise) and current regimes (GST, Customs, FTP). Conduct risk assessment, identify tax exposures, and implement strategies for tax optimization and planning. Leverage and optimize duty suspension benefits and incentives under IDT schemes, including state-specific and MoU-based benefits. Perform periodic tax health checks to identify process gaps and proactively resolve issues to mitigate future risks. Develop and implement internal controls and system-based checks to ensure continuous compliance and monitoring. Ensure accurate and timely filing of returns and discharge of tax liabilities under GST, Customs, and FTP laws. Liaise with government departments, auditors, and consultants on various indirect tax matters. Should have a strong understanding of SAP, with hands-on experience in the FI module for transactional analysis and reporting. Key Requirements:Education: CA / CMA / LLB / MBA Finance or equivalent. Strong knowledge of GST, Customs, FTP, and legacy laws like VAT & Excise. Proven track record of tax litigation management and compliance handling. Proficiency in SAP (FI module) is mandatory. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
