The Diploma Engineer Trainee will assist in inspection, testing, documentation, and process control activities to maintain consistent product quality and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.Job Title
Support - SMS - QC - SteelTo assist the Quality Department in implementing and maintaining quality standards for stainless steel seamless pipe production. The trainee will support inspection, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement activities to ensure products meet internal and customer specifications.Principal Accountabilities
Incoming Material InspectionAssist in checking and verifying the quality of raw materials (billets, rods, etc.. as per specifications. Record and maintain inspection data for traceability. In-Process Quality ControlMonitor various stages of pipe manufacturing (piercing, rolling, heat treatment, pickling, sizing, etc.. to ensure adherence to process parameters. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of pipes during production. Identify and report process deviations or defects to the Quality Engineer. Final Inspection and TestingAssist in conducting final inspection of finished pipes as per ASTM, ASME, EN, or API standards. Support non-destructive testing (NDT. activities like Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, and Hydrostatic Testing. Verify product marking, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy before dispatch. Documentation and Record KeepingMaintain inspection reports, test certificates, calibration records, and quality control documentation. Assist in preparing Inspection Test Plans (ITP., Quality Control Plans (QCP., and non-conformance reports (NCRs.. Ensure proper filing and traceability of all quality-related documents. Quality System SupportParticipate in the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / IATF 16949 quality management systems. Support internal and external quality audits by providing necessary data and documentation. Contribute to continual improvement and corrective/preventive action (CAPA. programs. Testing and Calibration SupportAssist in calibration of measuring instruments, gauges, and testing equipment. Coordinate with the laboratory for chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical testing. Customer Support & ComplianceSupport third-party inspection agencies and customer representatives during audits or inspections. Ensure customer specifications and quality requirements are met before dispatch. Safety and 5S ImplementationFollow all plant safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Participate in 5S, Kaizen, and other quality improvement activities. Learning and Skill DevelopmentContinuously learn about quality tools, inspection techniques, and process improvement methods. Gain exposure to international standards and certifications applicable to stainless steel seamless pipes. Key Interactions
