Monitor manufacturing processes such as:

• ERW / HFW / SAW / Seamless pipe forming

• Heat treatment (normalizing, quenching & tempering, annealing)

• Sizing, straightening, and finishing

process parameters

Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Supervise line inspectors and ensure inspection frequency adherence.

Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)

welder/operator qualification and requalification

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

• UT, RT, ET, MT, PT, Hydrostatic testing

Ensure NDT personnel certification (ASNT / ISO 9712 / SNT-TC-1A).

Review and approve NDT reports and ensure defect repair procedures are followed.

Ensure pipes meet dimensional requirements (OD, WT, length, ovality, straightness).

Control laboratory testing:

• Tensile, yield, elongation

• Flattening, flaring, bend tests

• Impact (Charpy) tests

• Hardness testing

Verify calibration and traceability of measuring and test equipment.

Conduct final inspection prior to dispatch.

Ensure compliance with applicable standards:

• API 5L, ASTM A53/A106, EN 10217/10219, IS standards

inspection and test plans (ITP)

Issue and sign off on:

• Mill Test Certificates (EN 10204 3.1/3.2)

• Compliance certificates and customer documentation

Implement and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.

Reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints.

Address customer quality concerns and complaints.

Participate in technical meetings and audits.

Ensure regulatory compliance (pressure vessel codes, oil & gas requirements, etc.).

Support customer inspections and factory acceptance tests (FAT).

Train QC inspectors, lab technicians, and operators on quality requirements.

Ensure competency, certification, and skill development of QC personnel.

Manage QC manpower planning and performance evaluation.

Ensure safe testing practices (hydrotest, radiography safety).

Ensure compliance with environmental and safety procedures related to quality activities.

Prepare quality reports for management:

• Rejection rates

• Customer complaints

• Audit findings

• Process capability

Track KPIs and drive improvement initiatives.
