Job Summary:

• The Senior Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of materials, components, and services provided by suppliers in an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment. This role requires deep knowledge of electronic components, manufacturing quality standards, supplier audits, and corrective action management. The SQA Engineer will partner closely with procurement, engineering, production, and supplier teams to drive continuous improvement across the supply base.

1.Supplier Quality Management

• Evaluate, qualify, and monitor suppliers for electronic components, mechanical parts, PCBs, plastics, packaging, and services.
• Define and implement supplier quality requirements, specifications, inspection standards, and acceptance criteria.
• Perform technical reviews of First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, sample submissions, and pre-production builds.
• Establish supplier scorecards and monitor performance metrics (PPM, OTD, defect trends).

2.Supplier Audits & Assessments

• Conduct supplier audits (process, system, product, and compliance audits).
• Assess supplier manufacturing processes for SMT, PCB fabrication, molding, stamping, machining, and assembly.
• Ensure supplier adherence to standards: ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485 (if applicable), RoHS, REACH, IPC-A-610, IPC-600.
• Identify risks within supplier operations and recommend improvement plans.

3.Incoming Quality & Material Control

• Oversee incoming material inspection processes for electronic and mechanical parts.
• Ensure effective sampling plans, material testing methods, and inspection criteria are in place.
• Address material issues impacting yield, reliability, or production schedules.

4. Issue Resolution & Corrective Actions

• Lead supplier-related defect investigations and perform root cause analysis (5Why, 8D, Fishbone).
• Work with suppliers on containment, corrective actions, and implementation of long-term preventive controls.
• Review and approve supplier 8D reports, ensuring timely closure and effectiveness.

5. Continuous Improvement

• Drive supplier development initiatives to improve yield, reduce scrap, and enhance reliability.
• Support implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical quality control practices.
• Develop training materials and coach internal teams on supplier quality processes.
