Role Overview

A deeply hands-on Staff Engineer who brings strong technical judgment, speed, clarity, and simplicity to engineering. You will shape architecture, raise engineering standards, and ensure our systems scale reliably with high ownership and proactive support.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Systems

• Design simple, scalable, and resilient distributed systems
• Decide what to build vs reuse vs adopt open-source using first-principles reasoning
• Lead system design reviews and enforce clear, maintainable architecture patterns

Hands-on Engineering

• Write high-quality Node JS + TypeScript code
• Design efficient MongoDB schemas and build complex aggregations
• Deep debugging across React, Flutter, and backend systems
• Leverage AI capabilities and deliver at high pace with strong engineering judgement

AI-Driven Engineering

• Use AI as a cognitive partner for coding, debugging, design, and decision-making
• Orchestrate models, tools, context, and workflows into a productive AI-powered loop
• Continuously adopt new AI capabilities to compound speed and improve system quality
• Champion AI-native practices across teams

Reliability & Support

• Proactively monitor systems and catch issues early
• Respond urgently to critical incidents, including off-hours
• Drive root-cause analysis, performance improvements, and observability

Developer Experience & Quality

• Improve developer workflows, tooling, and automation
• Maintain high standards around clarity, testing, security, and simplicity
• Advocate for minimal, robust, and maintainable engineering

Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor engineers across levels
• Elevate technical judgment
• Communicate decisions clearly and confidently
• Be approachable, energetic, and a force multiplier across pods

Tech Stack

Node JS, TypeScript, MongoDB, React, Flutter, AWS (Lambda, ECS, SQS, SES, CloudWatch, Amplify), AI/LLM integrations, GitHub, CI/CD, Docker

Ideal Profile

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience
• Experience building and operating high-load distributed systems
• Excellent debugging across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and databases
• Strong judgement on build vs adopt vs open-source decisions
• Proactive, high-ownership mindset with comfort supporting critical systems anytime
• Extroverted, collaborative, and energises the team
