Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Pipeline Projects
Department: Engineering / Projects
Reporting To: Project Manager / Lead Electrical Engineer
Job Purpose: To lead and support the design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems associated with cross-country pipeline infrastructure, including pumping stations, control systems, and safety mechanisms.
Key Roles & Responsibilities: Develop detailed plans, checklists, and procedures for commissioning of electrical systems for cross-country pipeline projects.
Review and validate electrical designs to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Support the procurement process by evaluating and ensuring the technical suitability of electrical equipment.
Design and oversee the installation of electrical systems for Positive Displacement (PD) pumps, transformers, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, and Cathodic Protection (CP) systems.
Integrate sensors (pressure, density, flow, etc.) with SCADA for real-time pipeline monitoring and control.
Program PLCs to automate pump operations, including setting up safety interlocks, alarms, and failsafe operations.
Design and implement grounding systems and lightning protection for pipeline stations and CP stations to ensure asset and personnel safety.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during installation and commissioning activities.
Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and as-built drawings related to electrical works.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BE/B.Tech) or equivalent.
Experience: 5 to 10 years in electrical engineering, preferably in oil & gas, pipeline, or infrastructure projects.
Key Skills Required:
Strong expertise in pipeline electrical systems, pumping station infrastructure, and SCADA/PLC automation.
Hands-on experience with transformers, MCCs, VFDs, CP systems, grounding, and lightning protection systems.
Familiarity with IEC, NEC, IS, API, and other relevant standards.
Ability to develop commissioning procedures, troubleshooting guides, and project documentation.
Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, control diagrams, and P&IDs.
Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical and communication skills.
Knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) compliance in industrial projects.
