Role Overview
We are looking for a
Senior Backend Engineer
with deep experience in
TypeScript

Node.js
, and ideally
Nest.js
, to join our hybrid Hyderabad team. This engineer will work across our backend services, help drive architectural evolution, and support our high‑velocity, multi‑deploy‑per‑week delivery cadence.This is a high‑ownership role where you'll contribute directly to a HIPAA‑regulated production environment. You'll have broad autonomy, strong influence over technical standards, and the opportunity to help shape the team as we scale.
What You'll Achieve
30 Days
- Ship a customer‑visible feature using Node.js/Nest.js.
- Complete a production support rotation and learn our reliability practices.
- Contribute to PR reviews and internal technical discussions.
90 Days
- Own a major service or subsystem within the Rhythm backend.
- Refactor and improve core domain modules in alignment with architectural guardrails.
- Help strengthen automated testing, observability, and reliability patterns.
6 Months
- Lead backend design for feature work.
- Improve performance, reliability, and incident response across key services.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to long‑term architectural evolution.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services in Node.js, TypeScript, and Nest.js.
- Contribute to backend architecture, API design, domain modeling, and data flows.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to shape scope and sequencing.
- Write clean, well‑tested, production‑ready code.
- Improve reliability, observability, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in on‑call rotation with clear runbooks and strong operational discipline.
- Review PRs across the backend and mentor junior engineers.
- Contribute to introducing and improving AI‑assisted development workflows.

- Dev Cadence: Multi‑deploys per week, trunk‑based development when practical
What You Bring
- 6–10 years of strong backend engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and modern backend patterns.
- Experience building scalable services using Nest.js or similar frameworks.
- Strong grounding in system design, distributed systems, and reliability engineering.
- Comfortable working in high‑ownership environments with production accountability.
- Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases.
- Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including comfort working with US‑based teams.
- Experience building or using AI‑assisted developer tooling is a plus.
Ways of Working
- Hybrid Hyderabad. In office days are every Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 3–4 hours/day overlap with US.
- Engineers own outcomes, not just tasks, with local autonomy when US teams are offline.
