Senior Scrum Master / Project Manager - +8 years of experience - Full remote - contractor in USD

For an international project in Chennai, we are urgently looking for a Full Remote Senior Scrum Master / Project Manager with +8 years of experience. The Scrum Master plays a key role within the Agile framework and ensures the implementation of Scrum practices and principles effectively.

We are looking for a motivated contractor. Candidates need to be fluent in English.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Facilitate SAFe ceremonies for the team (Iteration Planning, Daily Team Sync, Backlog Refinement, Iteration Review, and Retrospective) and coordinate inputs/outputs with ART events (PI Planning, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt);
• Enable flow by visualizing work, limiting WIP, removing impediments quickly, and optimizing team throughput and predictability;
• Coach the team on SAFe principles, Scrum/Kanban practices, Definition of Ready/Done (DoR/DoD), built‑in quality, and relentless improvement;
• Partner with the Product Owner to maintain a healthy backlog (prioritization, refinement, acceptance criteria, NFRs) and ensure readiness for upcoming iterations and PIs;
• Coordinate dependencies and risks with other teams via Scrum of Scrums and the program board; maintain ROAM‑ed risks and an impediment log;
• Ensure tooling hygiene and reporting in Azure DevOps (or equivalent), including boards, queries, dashboards, and links to design, test, and release artifacts;
• Support compliance with WBG security, audit, and ICFR/SDLC controls by ensuring traceability from features/stories to tests and releases and by capturing approvals where required;
• Assist with Release on Demand preparation: release notes, change records, rollback plans, and stakeholder communications; facilitate post‑release verification and learning;

Profile:

• Bachelor or Master degree;
• +8 years of Scrum Master experience delivering technology initiatives, including experience as a dedicated Scrum Master in SAFe or equivalent contexts;
• Project Management experience;
• +5 years of experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and strong understanding of Agile planning tracking tools;
• Demonstrated facilitation of PI Planning and iteration ceremonies; experience coordinating cross‑team dependencies and risks;
• Expertise with Azure DevOps (or similar) for backlog management, reporting/dashboards, and end‑to‑end traceability;
• Strong knowledge of Lean‑Agile, Scrum, Kanban, built‑in quality, and DevSecOps concepts; hands‑on with flow metrics (throughput, cycle time, WIP, predictability);
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills; ability to coach teams and influence without authority;
• Understanding of controls and governance in enterprise environments (e.g., security reviews, change management, segregation of duties, approvals);
• Hold SAFe/Agile Certification or will be requested to be certified within 6 months;
• Fluent in English;
