Senior QA Automation Engineer

Role: Sr QA Automation Engineer

Role summary:

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for Web and API applications (smoke, regression, and critical user journeys).
• Partner with developers and product teams to understand requirements, define test strategy, and ensure test coverage aligns with product risk.
• Identify, log, triage, and track defects using standard defect tracking tools; follow through to closure with clear reproduction steps and evidence.
• Participate in code reviews with a focus on testability, reliability, and quality (e.g., validation, error handling, logging, and observability).
• Build and maintain automation frameworks, reusable utilities, and CI/CD integrations to improve signal quality and reduce flaky tests.
• Apply best practices in automation and testing (clean code, stable selectors, proper waits, test isolation, and maintainable design patterns).
• Use AI-assisted development/testing tools (e.g., Cursor or similar) to speed up automation workflows—such as generating test scaffolding, improving assertions, refactoring, and expanding edge-case coverage—while validating outcomes and protecting sensitive data.
• Contribute to broader quality initiatives such as test data management, reliability improvements, and (where relevant) performance/security testing support.
  

Requirements

• 4–5 years of hands-on experience in test automation for web and API products. Strong expertise in test automation frameworks/tools (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG, etc.).
• Solid programming/scripting experience using Java and/or JavaScript with good debugging and code quality practices.
• Proven experience testing SaaS-based enterprise products and working in Agile development environments.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automation suites (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and modern engineering toolchains.
• Exposure to performance testing, security testing, and test data management is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, attention to detail, and clear communication.
• Ability to recommend appropriate test levels for features (e.g., API/contract tests vs. UI E2E) and avoid over-reliance on brittle UI-only automation.
