Senior Payroll Manager

Job Overview

The Payroll cum Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end payroll functions for contract staff. This role combines payroll management with compliance oversight, requiring a thorough understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, state and central compliance requirements and employment laws.

Primary Responsibilities

Payroll Management:

• Oversee the preparation and processing of the payroll on a timely basis for 1000+ contract employees.
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, benefits, tax deductions, and other deductions.
• Maintain payroll processing system and records by gathering, calculating, and inputting data.
• Manage the on-boarding and exit formalities
• Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all payroll-related laws and regulations.
• Respond to and resolve employee payroll inquiries and issues.
• Ensure 100% compliance with state and central laws by coordinating with the compliance partner and finance department on a timely basis.

Compliance Management:

• Ensure compliance with state,payroll, wage & laws and best practices.
• Stay current with payroll-related legislation and regulatory changes.
• Prepare and file required reports, including quarterly and annual payroll taxes.
• Manage internal and external audits related to payroll.
• Ensure the organization's payroll practices are compliant with labor laws and regulations.
• Advise management on compliance issues and recommend necessary actions.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard payroll operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in payroll and compliance management for various states in India.
• Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems.
• In-depth understanding of tax and employment laws.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
