Summary
The Senior Bartender at Gunpowder Restaurant plays a pivotal role in supporting the Beverage Operations Lead to ensure an exceptional bar experience while driving operational excellence. This position requires strong leadership, expertise in mixology, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service. The Senior Bartender will mentor bar and service staff, uphold the beverage program’s integrity, and ensure that each guest enjoys a personalized, memorable experience.
Responsibilities
1. Mixology & Beverage Execution
- Expertly craft and serve a variety of drinks, including signature cocktails, premium spirits, curated wines, and custom beers, ensuring consistency, precision, and presentation aligned with Gunpowder's standards.
- Collaborate with the Beverage Operations Lead to develop and refine seasonal cocktail menus and promotions that drive revenue.
- Introduce innovative drink offerings that align with the restaurant's regional Indian identity and guest preferences.
- Keep current with global mixology trends, integrating them into the bar program as appropriate.
2. Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Provide attentive, knowledgeable, and engaging service, offering personalized beverage recommendations and food pairings to elevate the guest experience.
- Educate guests on the bar menu, cocktail ingredients, and premium beverages, fostering an interactive atmosphere that enhances their dining experience.
- Resolve guest concerns swiftly and professionally, ensuring consistent positive feedback and repeat business.
3. Leadership & Team Support
- Lead shifts and set a high standard for professionalism, ensuring smooth operations and efficient service during peak times.
- Mentor and train junior bartenders and barbacks, ensuring they understand mixology, service etiquette, and product knowledge, promoting team cohesion and excellence.
- Ensure the bar team follows SOPs, operational guidelines, and company values, maintaining consistency across all service areas.
- Step in for the Beverage Operations Lead as required, ensuring seamless operations in their absence.
4. Upselling & Sales Performance
- Proactively upsell premium cocktails, beverages, and food pairings, ensuring a focus on increasing revenue while maintaining a personalized guest experience.
- Develop and promote seasonal drink specials that highlight fresh, regional ingredients, driving both beverage and food sales.
- Track and report sales performance, providing actionable insights to management to further optimize revenue strategies.
5. Bar Operations & Compliance
- Ensure the bar area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety, hygiene, and operational standards.
- Maintain proper care of all bar tools, equipment, and glassware, ensuring their functionality and cleanliness.
- Adhere to all responsible service guidelines, including age verification and ensuring guests are served appropriately.
6. Inventory Management & Cost Control
- Assist with daily and weekly inventory counts, stock rotation, and ordering to maintain optimal inventory levels for both high-demand and specialty items.
- Implement effective inventory control measures to track stock usage, minimize wastage, and reduce over-pouring.
- Monitor costs associated with liquor, garnishes, glassware, and bar equipment to ensure financial targets are met without compromising quality.
- Work with the Beverage Operations Lead to negotiate supplier pricing and maintain cost-effective purchasing.
7. SOP Development & Staff Training
- Develop and regularly update SOPs for bar operations, ensuring consistency and efficiency in cocktail preparation, guest interaction, and cleanliness.
- Train bar and service staff on new drink recipes, techniques, and customer service practices, ensuring all team members align with the restaurant's high standards.
- Conduct regular training sessions to maintain staff knowledge, particularly in upselling techniques, inventory control, and beverage pairings.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring staff stays informed about new trends and industry standards.
8. Food & Beverage Pairing Support
- Collaborate with the culinary team to refine and promote food and beverage pairings that enhance the overall guest experience.
- Educate both bar and service staff on these pairings to ensure cohesive, high-quality recommendations to guests.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a bartender in a premium or upscale dining environment.
- Expertise in mixology, cocktail techniques, wine varietals, craft beer, and spirits.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor a team, ensuring service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Certification in responsible beverage service is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
