Brief Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing and improving general ledger accounting month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial analysis across multiple entities and currencies. This role ensures compliance with US GAAP, supports tax and audit activities, and drives process improvements, including automation initiates using AI-powered tools.
Overall Role & Responsibility:
- Manage and execute timely and accurate month-end and year-end close tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in technical accounting areas, including Deferred Contract Costs and Capitalized Software.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that time data capturing tools for Deferred Contract Costs and Capitalized Software are updated, accurate and aligned with accounting standards.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation using AI-powered tools and bots.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and statutory accounting guidance.

Essential Tasks:
- Capitalized Software: Timely and accurately record internal and external capitalized software and related amortization under applicable accounting standards by legal entity. Analyze the data provided by the business for completeness and accuracy, working with the business to identify improvement opportunities.
- This role supports audit and tax schedule preparation related to capitalized software and research and development costs.
- Deferred Contract Costs: Timely and accurately record internal and external implementation costs and sales commissions under the appropriate accounting guidance by legal entity. Analyze the data provided by the business for completeness and accuracy, partnering with the business to identify improvement opportunities.
- Payroll & Benefits Accounting: Timely and accurately record global payroll-related transactions, including payroll, benefits, bonus and severance across multiple departments and entities. These tasks require analyzing and verifying data completeness as well as the recording of medical liabilities, including IBNR, reinsurance receivables and analysis of healthcare expense.
- Other Tasks: Perform other assigned tasks which may include expense accruals, intercompany variance reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, cash transactions, and other continuous improvement and strategic projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Equivalent of a USA bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant license preferred.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- 3+ years of professional corporate accounting experience.
- Experience with month-end close including journal entries preparation, account reconciliations, and analysis.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
PROFICIENCY WITH THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS IS A PLUS:
- Sage Intacct
- Microsoft Office & Related Tools (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Power BI)
- Experience with AI and automation tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot)
