Job Description

As a Security Supervisor at our pre-opening hotel, you will play a vital role in establishing and implementing security protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of guests, employees, and property. This dynamic position involves supervising the hotel’s security operations, leading the security team, and coordinating with various departments to uphold a secure and welcoming environment. You will be responsible for enforcing safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and responding to incidents with professionalism and efficiency. About Merlis Coimbatore Merlis Coimbatore is an elegant new luxury hotel set amidst 4 acres of serene landscapes, ideally located just 2 kilometers from Coimbatore International Airport. The hotel features 142 meticulously designed rooms, including five premium dining outlets, and an array of world-class facilities including two grand ballrooms, a spacious banquet lawn, and six well-equipped meeting rooms. For relaxation and wellness, guests can enjoy a state-of-the-art health club featuring a spa, gym, and swimming pool. Designed with versatility in mind, Merlis Coimbatore is the perfect destination for corporate MICE functions, large weddings, and distinctive residential-style gatherings that promise an unforgettable experience for every guest. Duties and Responsibilities Pre-Opening Planning and Setup Assist in developing and implementing the hotel’s security procedures and emergency response protocols. Coordinate with project teams and management to ensure security systems and equipment are installed and operational prior to opening. Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of the security team to ensure preparedness for hotel operations. Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate safety and loss prevention measures. Daily Operations and Supervision Supervise daily security operations, including access control, patrolling, and monitoring of hotel premises. Ensure all security staff adhere to standard operating procedures, grooming standards, and professional conduct. Monitor the performance and deployment of security personnel across shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage and vigilance. Operate and oversee CCTV, alarm systems, and other security equipment to maintain situational awareness. Incident Management and Emergency Response Lead the response to incidents such as fire, theft, unauthorized access, or guest/staff injuries. Liaise with local police, fire department, and emergency medical services as necessary. Prepare detailed incident and investigation reports for management review. Maintain a calm, assertive presence during high-pressure situations to ensure safety and control. Safety Compliance and Prevention Ensure hotel-wide compliance with fire safety laws, occupational safety standards, and local regulations. Conduct regular inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and first aid supplies. Collaborate with the Engineering and Housekeeping teams to address and mitigate safety hazards. Training and Awareness Provide regular training to security staff on emergency procedures, first aid, conflict de-escalation, and customer service. Conduct safety briefings for hotel employees and ensure new team members are oriented on basic security protocols. Promote a safety-conscious culture across the property through awareness initiatives. Coordination with Other Departments Work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, and Events to manage security logistics for VIP guests, weddings, and large gatherings. Support Banquet and Events teams in crowd control, access management, and safeguarding valuables. Coordinate with HR for employee-related investigations or disciplinary matters involving safety or conduct. Monitoring and Reporting Maintain accurate daily logs, incident reports, access logs, and equipment maintenance records. Track security KPIs and prepare regular reports on safety incidents, staffing needs, and improvements. Recommend enhancements to existing systems or policies to strengthen hotel security. Qualifications and Skills Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in a security role within hospitality or a similar industry. Experience in a supervisory capacity is essential; pre-opening experience is a plus. Familiarity with modern security systems including CCTV, access control, and fire panels. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain composed in emergency situations and make clear decisions under pressure.
