Role Description

Area Sales Manager (ASM)


Key Responsibilities:


Market Development:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in the orthopedic device sector.
  • Analyses regional markets, trends, and customer needs to devise effective sales strategies.

Sales & Revenue Growth:

  • Achieve and exceed sales targets for orthopedic implants/products.
  • Develop strategic plans to penetrate new accounts and retain existing clients.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders such as orthopedic surgeons, hospital procurement teams, and healthcare professionals.
  • Provide product demonstrations, technical information, and post-sales support.

Distributor & Channel Management:

  • Appoint and manage distributors or sales partners in designated regions.
  • Monitor channel performance and provide training/support as needed.


Product & Market Knowledge:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of orthopedic products (e.g., trauma, spine, joint replacement), competitors, and technological advancements.
  • Collaborate with R&D and marketing teams to provide feedback from the field.

Marketing & Promotions:

  • Organize CME programs, workshops, conferences, and product launches.
  • Represent the company in trade shows and professional events.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on market activity, sales performance, and competitor intelligence.
  • Use CRM tools to manage leads, opportunities, and sales pipelines.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in orthopedic or medical device sales/business development.
  • Strong network within the orthopedic surgeon and hospital ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-driven, target-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
