Risk Manager – Gaming Platforms

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Strategy & Governance:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework tailored to online gaming operations in India.
• Design risk mitigation plans and monitor implementation effectiveness.

Operational & Regulatory Risk Management:

• Identify, assess, and monitor risks across the gaming lifecycle – including game launches, user acquisition, in-app purchases, and third-party integrations.
• Stay current with India’s regulatory landscape (Online Gaming Bill Act , tax implications, etc.) and ensure full compliance.
• Engage with legal and compliance teams to interpret and respond to new legislation or enforcement trends.

Fraud Prevention & Transaction Monitoring:

• Oversee risk analytics and fraud detection systems to monitor user behavior, prevent bonus abuse, and detect suspicious transactions.
• Work with payments and finance teams to identify chargeback risks, wallet misuse, or irregular fund flows.

Responsible Gaming & User Protection:

• Develop and monitor responsible gaming initiatives aligned with industry best practices and Indian cultural nuances.
• Design and implement systems for age verification, player self-exclusion, and behavioral alerts.

Risk Reporting & Audits:

• Regularly report key risk indicators (KRIs) to senior leadership.
• Prepare internal audit documentation and support external audits, if applicable.
• Conduct periodic risk assessments and scenario planning.

Stakeholder Management:

• Partner with internal stakeholders – product, tech, marketing, and support – to integrate risk controls seamlessly into operations.
• Interface with regulators, legal advisors, and industry bodies as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• MBA or professional certifications (FRM, CISA, CAMS) preferred.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in risk, compliance, or fraud prevention – preferably in gaming, fintech, e-commerce, or digital platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian gaming regulations and digital payments.
• Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in risk assessment tools and data analysis platforms (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Excel).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a problem-solving approach.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in handling risk for real-money gaming, fantasy sports, esports, or casual gaming platforms in India.
• Familiarity with UPI, wallets, prepaid cards, and payment gateway integrations.
• Knowledge of state-wise gaming bans, GST implications on gaming, and IT Act compliance.
