Job Summary: The Retail Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, ensuring optimal patient care, maintaining efficient workflows, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role involves managing a team of pharmacy staff, coordinating pharmacy operations, ensuring inventory control, and driving sales growth. The Pharmacy Manager ensures a high standard of customer service and strives to improve the overall health and wellness of the community. Key Responsibilities: Pharmacy Operations: Oversee the daily activities of the pharmacy, including prescription filling, medication dispensing, and counseling. Ensure adherence to all pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies to maintain legal compliance. Coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate prescriptions and appropriate medication use. Implement and maintain pharmacy operating procedures, workflows, and safety protocols. Staff Management: Lead, train, and supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to improve staff performance. Manage schedules, staffing levels, and ensure that the pharmacy is adequately staffed to meet customer needs. Foster a positive team environment and motivate employees to provide excellent customer service. Inventory and Stock Management: Oversee the pharmacy’s inventory, ensuring that medications and supplies are stocked and ordered in a timely manner. Monitor stock levels, expiration dates, and manage the safe storage of medications. Manage returns, restocking, and disposal of expired or damaged medications. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring satisfaction. Counsel patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and interactions. Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal pharmacy regulations and standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prescriptions and other pharmacy documents. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure that all pharmacy operations meet required safety and compliance standards. Financial Management: Monitor pharmacy financial performance and report to upper management on sales, expenses, and profitability. Assist with pricing, promotions, and marketing efforts to increase pharmacy sales. Develop and implement strategies to optimize operational efficiency and reduce waste. Collaboration and Communication: Work with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and specialists, to ensure coordinated patient care. Provide guidance and direction to pharmacy staff on pharmacy programs, new products, and services. Stay informed about changes in regulations, industry trends, and new medications.
