I. Role Overview The Quality Control (QC) Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading all quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the entire garment production lifecycle—from raw material sourcing to final shipment. This role is critical in maintaining the company's quality standards, adhering to buyer specifications, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
II. Key Responsibilities
A. Quality Strategy and Standards Develop and Implement: Devise, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), quality procedures, standards (e.g., AQL, ISO 9001), and specifications in line with both company goals and customer requirements. Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing processes and finished goods comply with national, international, and specific buyer quality, health, safety, and compliance standards. Documentation: Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation and control procedures for all QC/QA processes, inspections, and reports.
B. Production and Process Control Inspection Oversight: Supervise and manage quality checks at every stage: Raw Materials: Inspect incoming fabrics, trims, and accessories for quality, color, and quantity accuracy against specifications. In-Process: Conduct inline, cutting, sewing, and finishing inspections to identify and resolve defects early (e.g., using a 'Traffic Light Chart' system). Final Inspection: Oversee pre-final and final random inspections (FRI) to ensure the finished product meets all measurement, workmanship, and packing specifications. Problem-Solving: Identify root causes of quality issues, implement immediate corrective actions, and devise preventive measures to minimize future defects and reduce rework/rejection rates. Approvals: Give final approval on size sets, print, embroidery, wash, and other critical production samples before bulk manufacturing begins.
C. Team Leadership and Development Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the team of Quality Control Inspectors and QA staff. Training: Conduct training sessions for QC personnel and production staff on quality SOPs, inspection techniques, and buyer-specific quality requirements.
D. Reporting and Communication Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze QA/QC performance data, gather relevant statistics, and produce detailed statistical reports (e.g., on defects, failed processes, and corrective actions) for management review. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Design, Merchandising, Production, and Sourcing teams to communicate quality requirements, resolve issues, and ensure a unified approach to product quality. Buyer/Customer Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for buyer representatives on all quality-related matters, audits, and final inspections.
