Civil Quality Engineer Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Quality Engineer to ensure the highest standards of quality across our construction and civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control plans, with a strong emphasis on comprehensive material testing, including concrete cube tests. This role demands meticulous documentation practices, proactive identification of potential quality issues, and exceptional communication skills to foster strong client relationships and ensure project adherence to specifications and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Material Testing & Cube Testing: Perform rigorous on-site and laboratory tests on a wide range of construction materials, including aggregates, soil, cement, steel, and concrete. Execute precise concrete cube tests, slump tests, and other concrete quality checks to assess strength, durability, and compliance with project specifications. Monitor and meticulously document all test procedures, ensuring that tests are conducted accurately and in strict accordance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, IS codes) and relevant regulations. Analyse test results, identify deviations from specifications, and report findings to project management and relevant stakeholders. Quality Assurance & Control: Develop, implement, and continuously refine comprehensive quality control plans (QCPs) and protocols to ensure all construction work meets or exceeds established quality benchmarks. Collaborate closely with project teams, including design, procurement, and execution, to review design plans, material specifications, and quality standards before and during construction. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential quality issues or non-conformances early in the construction process. Recommend and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality deviations and prevent recurrence. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reports on all test results, quality assessments, inspection outcomes, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Maintain up-to-date and organized records of material properties, testing data, compliance documentation, and quality audit trails. Assist in the creation, revision, and management of comprehensive project quality management documentation, including Quality Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Generate statistical analyses and trends related to material quality and construction processes. Client Handling & Communication: Serve as the primary quality assurance contact for clients, promptly and professionally addressing all queries related to material testing results and overall quality control efforts. Provide clear, concise, and regular updates to clients and key stakeholders regarding test outcomes, quality assessments, and any quality-related challenges or achievements. Coordinate effectively with external testing agencies, third-party inspectors, and regulatory bodies as needed to ensure complete compliance and smooth project progression. Continuous Improvement: Actively monitor industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in material testing, quality assurance methodologies, and construction technologies. Proactively recommend process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance quality control measures, optimize testing procedures, and drive overall project excellence. Participate in post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications & Experience: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Technical Skills: Demonstrated familiarity with and practical application of relevant testing standards such as ASTM, BS EN (British Standards European Norms), IS (Indian Standards), or equivalent international/national standards. Proficiency in using quality management software and tools for data entry, analysis, and reporting. Strong analytical skills with an exceptional attention to detail, enabling accurate data interpretation and problem identification. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences (clients, engineers, site staff). Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Strong client handling skills, with a proven ability to build rapport, address concerns, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Proactive problem-solving mind-set with a strong ability to propose effective and practical quality improvements and solutions. Strong team player with the ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with diverse project teams.
