Job Description

A Procurement Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring that materials, equipment, and services required for engineering projects are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and within specified quality standards. Below are the typical roles and responsibilities of a Procurement Engineer: 1. Procurement Planning Analyze project requirements to determine procurement needs. Develop procurement strategies and schedules in alignment with project timelines. Collaborate with engineering and project teams to define technical specifications and scopes of supply. 2. Vendor Management Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers and contractors. Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors. Conduct vendor audits and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. 3. Tendering & Contracting Prepare Request for Quotations (RFQs), Request for Proposals (RFPs), and bidding documents. Evaluate bids technically and commercially in collaboration with engineering and finance teams. Negotiate terms and finalize procurement contracts. 4. Cost Control & Budget Management Monitor procurement costs to ensure alignment with project budgets. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement value engineering practices. Maintain accurate cost records and report variances. 5. Purchase Order Management Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with project schedules. Ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Track order status and expedite deliveries as needed. 6. Quality Assurance Ensure procured items meet required specifications and standards. Coordinate inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and quality audits. Manage non-conformances and initiate corrective actions. 7. Logistics & Delivery Coordination Coordinate transportation, import/export documentation, and customs clearance. Ensure proper storage and handling of materials upon arrival. Track delivery performance and resolve delays or issues. 8. Documentation & Reporting Maintain procurement records, contracts, and supplier databases. Generate procurement reports and KPIs for management. Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and compliance regulations. 9. Risk Management Identify procurement-related risks and develop mitigation plans. Ensure continuity of supply for critical items. 10. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with engineering, construction, finance, and legal teams. Participate in project meetings and contribute to overall project success.
