Purchase Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Procurement Planning:

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with project schedules and budget requirements.

• Vendor Management:

• Identify, evaluate, and manage vendors and suppliers for electrical materials and equipment. Build long-term relationships to ensure reliable sourcing.

• Negotiation & Cost Control:

• Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost-effectiveness and high-quality standards.

• Material Management:

• Coordinate with the engineering and project teams to ensure the timely procurement and delivery of materials as per specifications.

• Inventory Oversight:

• Monitor inventory levels and initiate timely purchases to avoid material shortages or overstocking.

• Compliance & Documentation:

• Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, safety standards, and statutory regulations. Maintain complete procurement records.

• Market Analysis:

• Stay updated with market trends, new technologies, and alternative suppliers to maintain a competitive edge.

• Coordination:

• Work closely with site engineers, project managers, and finance teams to streamline material flow and manage procurement budgets.

Requirements:

• B. Tech or BE in Electrical Engineering.
• 8–10 years of proven experience in purchase/procurement within the electrical contracting industry.
• Strong knowledge of electrical materials, components, and industry standards.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in ERP software and MS Office tools.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Understanding of project-based procurement cycles.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with government/industrial/commercial electrical projects.
• Familiarity with import procedures and logistics (if applicable).
• Certification in supply chain management or materials management is a plus.
