Role Summary
We’re looking for a systems-focused and hands-on School Transformation Lead to drive measurable improvement in rural government schools across Karnataka. This role will guide school improvement efforts, strengthen teacher capacity, run a small cohort of external teaching fellows and Master trainers, and build robust partnerships with government stakeholders through regular consultations to align initiatives with state and district priorities.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead School Transformation
- Design, implement, and monitor comprehensive school transformation plans for clusters of rural government schools.
- Conduct baseline diagnostics on learning levels, teacher practices, infrastructure, and community engagement to inform strategies.
- Co-design and implement “BALA” -Building as Learning AID”
Run a Teaching Fellowship Cohort
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor a small group of teaching fellows and master trainers placed in select government schools.
- Provide fellows with ongoing pedagogical coaching and ensure alignment with school and community needs.
- Facilitate collaboration between fellows and government teachers for co-teaching, remedial learning, and capacity-building.
Strengthen Teacher Capacity
- Conduct classroom observations, workshops, and peer-learning sessions to improve pedagogy and foundational literacy/numeracy outcomes.
- Introduce active learning techniques, use of TLMs (teaching-learning materials), and formative assessment practices.
Partnerships & Government Consultation
- Build strong, collaborative partnerships with Block and District Education Officers, Cluster Resource Persons, and State Education Department officials.
- Conduct regular consultations with government stakeholders to ensure alignment of transformation plans with government priorities, policies, and budgets.
- Represent the program in state/district forums, advocate for adoption of successful practices, and support institutionalization.
Community Mobilization
- Engage School Management Committees (SMCs), parents, and local leaders to improve enrolment, retention, and growth of the school
- Facilitate campaigns for foundational learning, girls’ education, and inclusive schooling.
Data & Monitoring
- Establish simple assessment and tracking systems to monitor student learning outcomes, teacher practices, and program milestones.
- Use data insights for adaptive management and decision-making.
Team & Resource Management
- Oversee field facilitators, teaching fellows, master trainers and local volunteers.
- Manage field budgets, schedules, and logistics efficiently.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Capture and share best practices, case studies, and reports with partners, donors, and government stakeholders.
- Contribute to learning materials and policy briefs for scaling.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 6–8 years of experience in school transformation or education programs.
- Direct experience working with government schools (Karnataka experience strongly preferred).
- Proven ability to mentor educators and/or manage teacher development programs.Demonstrated experience in partnership building and consultation with government officials.
- Experience running or contributing to fellowship programs or teacher cohorts is an advantage.
- Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Fluency in Kannada and English is essential.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
