Job Summary

The Production Assistant Manager in the dairy industry supports the Production Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the production department, ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality processing of dairy products. This role involves managing teams, maintaining compliance with industry standards, optimizing production processes, and meeting production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Management:
    • Assist the Production Manager in planning, organizing, and coordinating daily production schedules.
    • Monitor the production process to ensure efficiency and adherence to established quality standards.
    • Address and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent output.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., FSSAI, FDA, HACCP).
    • Work with the quality assurance team to maintain product quality and implement corrective actions when necessary.
    • Monitor and document production quality metrics.
  • Team Supervision:
    • Supervise production staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
    • Promote teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
    • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations among all team members.
  • Inventory and Materials Management:
    • Assist in managing raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods inventory.
    • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials.
    • Monitor usage to minimize waste and optimize cost-efficiency.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Oversee the proper functioning of machinery and equipment.
    • Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
    • Prepare and maintain production reports, including performance metrics, wastage, and downtime.
    • Collaborate with auditors and inspectors during facility checks.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
    • Assist in introducing new products or modifying existing products as required by market trends.
    • Stay updated with industry advancements and incorporate relevant practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Dairy Technology, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in dairy production or food manufacturing, with experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Knowledge of dairy processing and quality standards.
    • Proficiency in using production planning software and tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
