Position Title: Head – Production Planning & Control Reporting To: Plant Head

Department: Production / Operations Location: Neemrana


Role Overview

The Head of Production Planning & Control (PPC) is responsible for leading the planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling of all manufacturing operations to ensure optimum utilization of resources, timely delivery, and cost efficiency. This role ensures alignment of production schedules with business objectives, customer demand, and supply chain capabilities while driving operational excellence across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Planning

  • Develop and implement production planning & control strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Effective Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to balance demand and supply.
  • Ensure capacity planning and resource allocation to meet short-term and long-term requirements.
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, and logistics teams to ensure seamless material and production flow.
  • Operational Execution

  • Prepare detailed production schedules, monitor adherence, and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to minimize stockouts and excess.
  • Drive on-time delivery (OTD) performance and customer service levels.
  • Implement systems for tracking, monitoring, and reporting production performance (KPIs).
  • Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor the PPC team, ensuring development of competencies and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Act as the key liaison between production, procurement, sales, and quality teams.
  • Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Introduce best practices, digital tools, and lean manufacturing principles for planning and scheduling.
  • Implement MRP systems effectively to enhance planning accuracy and efficiency.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives through improved resource utilization and waste reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • On-Time Delivery (OTD) to customers.
  • Production adherence to plan (%).
  • Inventory accuracy & Effective Inventory levels.
  • Capacity utilization and resource efficiency.
  • Cost savings through process improvements.
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical /Electronics/Production).
  • 12–18 years of experience in Production Planning & Control / Manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP/MS Excel).
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing & similar methodologies will be an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and MIS reporting.
  • Ability to handle complexity and work under pressure. Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
