Job Description

Job Overview:

Medprime Technologies building advanced digital microscopes and whole-slide imaging systems that transform how pathologists and researchers diagnose and understand disease. As a Product Designer, you will craft intuitive, reliable experiences that enable healthcare professionals to make faster, more accurate decisions.

This role focuses on understanding user workflows, identifying pain points, and designing intuitive, efficient, and safe experiences for pathologists, lab technicians, and biomedical engineers.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on understanding complex user environments, especially in laboratories, hospitals, or research facilities, and translating that understanding into intuitive, reliable, and safe software interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct user research through interviews, observations, and usability studies in pathology labs and diagnostic settings.
  • Your work will bridge the gap between hardware and software experiences, helping biomedical engineers, pathologists, and lab technicians perform critical tasks with confidence and clarity.
  • Our design priority is usability, clarity, and error prevention, not just visual flourish.
  • Translate user needs into clear problem statements and design requirements.
  • Create workflow maps, user journeys, and wireframes for both software and hardware touchpoints (device UI, sample handling, scanning workflows, data management, etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, hardware engineers, and software developers to shape the overall product experience.
  • Prototype and test design concepts iteratively to validate with real users.
  • Maintain focus on usability, accessibility, and error prevention in high-stakes clinical environments.
  • Document design decisions, rationale, and outcomes for regulatory and internal review.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in UX design, product design, or design research, preferably in healthcare, laboratory, or industrial domains.
  • A research-driven mindset: you start with understanding the user, not the UI.
  • Systems thinking: ability to connect hardware constraints, data workflows, and human behavior.
  • Empathy and patience: designing for professionals under pressure requires both.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: this is a space where standards evolve, and your judgment matters.
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design processes — from research to prototyping to validation.
  • Ability to create low-fidelity mockups and wireframes (tools like Figma, Miro, Balsamiq, etc.)
  • Comfort working with complex workflows and non-consumer users (scientists, clinicians, lab technicians).
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering and product teams.
  • (Preferred) Experience with medical devices, digital pathology, or imaging systems.
