Role Overview

The

Pharma Chemical Sourcing & Procurement Specialist

will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers of

pharmaceutical raw materials, APIs, intermediates, and excipients

. The role requires strong knowledge of chemical sourcing, regulatory requirements, and supplier relationship management to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and timely procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for APIs, key starting materials (KSMs), intermediates, and excipients.
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers globally, ensuring adherence to GMP, FDA, and regulatory standards.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts covering pricing, lead times, quality, and delivery terms.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure reliability, consistency, and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct market analysis to track pricing trends, alternative sources, and supply chain risks.
  • Work closely with QA/QC, R&D, and supply chain teams to align sourcing with technical and business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with pharma procurement regulations, sustainability standards, and internal audit policies.
  • Maintain vendor database, procurement reports, and sourcing dashboards for management review.
Qualification & Skills
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in sourcing/procurement of pharma chemicals, APIs, or specialty chemicals.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance (USFDA, EMA, ICH, GMP) in supplier qualification.
  • Global supplier network in pharma raw materials preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to balance cost, quality, and supply security.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems (SAP, Ariba, Zoho, or similar).
  • Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable in a high-growth startup environment.
