About the Company
  • Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications. Our product portfolio comprises general purpose and specialized 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers, 32-bit microprocessors, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) products, a broad spectrum of high-performance linear, mixed-signal, power management, thermal management, radio frequency (RF), timing, safety, security, wired connectivity, and wireless connectivity devices, as well as serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Serial Flash memories, Parallel Flash memories, and serial Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). We also license Flash-IP solutions incorporated in a broad range of products.
  • About the team Microchip FPGA Business unit offers FPGA device families suited for secure, power-efficient compute in a wide range of applications within Imaging, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML), Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Automation, Automotive, Aerospace and Defense, Wireline Access Networks & Cellular Infrastructure. The Smart Embedded Vision team builds the next generation 8K video and image processing solutions for Microchip FPGA products using the latest technology trends. The team develops video solutions for high-speed camera protocols, display protocols, and video compression based on MJPEG and H.264. The video solution development includes defining the architecture of the IPs based on standard specs, writing the RTL code, verifying in simulation, and validating the hardware. The video interface IPs and advanced image processing IPs together create a complete solution. The Smart Embedded Vision team also defines the features and specifications of the evaluation boards for vision applications.
  • About the Position
  • This position is an excellent opportunity for someone willing to work on the latest technologies and play a critical role in providing a roadmap for video solutions. The individual will work on developing RTL designs, video and image processing algorithms, video interface protocols, and computer vision applications for the Microchip FPGA products. The individual must have strong RTL (VHDL/Verilog) coding skills and digital design concepts. In addition, the individual must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand, multiple-deadline driven environment.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop Video and Image processing IPs and integrate into complete video solution
  • Develop IPs for video interface protocols such as HDMI, MIPI, SDI, etc.
  • Understand the standards and specs for video protocols
  • Implement RTL design, coding and take it through industry standard design flows
  • Develop the Test Bench architecture, test plan for functional verification of the IPs
  • Run FPGA design flow, set timing constraints and fix timing issues
  • Integrate the developed IPs into the overall system design and validate on the Smart Embedded Vision hardware kits
  • Debug the system on the hardware using Microchip debugging tools and testing equipment
  • Adhere to quality standards from RTL coding to complete validation of the system
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Master's/Bachelor’s degree in electronics/electrical engineering.
  • Proficient VHDL/Verilog coding skills
  • Strong digital circuit design concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving approach
  • Basic use of standard lab equipment including Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, and other measuring equipment
  • Good communication skills and work ethics
