Job Description

The Plant Manager is accountable for the overall performance and leadership of the plant, with responsibility for end-to-end operations including production, industrialization, Sales, Inventory, & Operations Planning (SI&OP), manufacturing quality assurance, cost management and the implementation of lean initiativesof the Pallavaram valves manufacturing plant.The role focuses on achieving Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) targets while driving continuous improvements and operational excellence.This is a key leadership role that requires a combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and a hands-on approach. The plant manager will collaborate with cross functional teams to implement production strategies and foster a culture of operational excellence.The role reports to GSI Global Supply Chain Leader

What you’ll do

  • Operational management: Plan, organize, direct and run day to day plant operations. Monitor production output, quality, and efficiency to meet business goals.Implement and maintain manufacturing best practices to optimize productivity.
  • Leadership & Team development: Build, mentor and manage a high performing team for optimum day-to-day operations while fostering accountability and collaboration. Establish plant culture and priorities with a clear focus on business execution, effective employee communication & relations, and the embodiment of the GE Vernova Way
  • Safety : Foster a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards and training programs
  • Quality: Improve product quality through robust quality systems, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Delivery: Manage production schedules to meet delivery commitments and customer expectations and achieve business outcomes.
  • Cost: Drive efficient resource utilization through lean initiatives, and waste elimination
  • Continuous improvement: Lead lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and value stream mapping to enhance SQDC metrics.
  • Leverage budgeting, forecasting and SI&OP rhythms to drive the organization to ensure scheduling, capacity, and headcount are aligned to the ramp up plant success.
  • Strategic planning: contribute to strategic planning and decision making to develop and implement long term business strategies.

What You’ll Bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Operations Management or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing with a minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience
  • Proven track record in achieving SQDC goals and implementing lean tools/
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, lean tools, and quality management systems
