Manager – Operations & Maintenance (Utility)

Role Summary

The O&M Manager (Utility) is responsible for managing day-to-day operations and maintenance of utility infrastructure supporting telecom sites. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply, optimal performance of utility assets, cost control, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards across assigned regions or clusters.

Key Responsibilities1. Utility Operations & Maintenance

  • Manage O&M of utility systems at telecom sites (BTS, IBS, switching centers, data centers).
  • Ensure 24x7 power availability and site uptime.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of DG sets, batteries, rectifiers, solar power systems, HVAC, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Implement SOPs and maintenance schedules.

2. Energy & Fuel Management

  • Monitor energy consumption and support energy optimization initiatives.
  • Track DG fuel usage, prevent pilferage, and ensure accurate billing and reconciliation.
  • Support implementation of green and hybrid energy solutions.

3. Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage utility vendors, AMCs, and service partners.
  • Ensure SLA adherence and timely resolution of faults.
  • Validate vendor invoices and performance metrics.

4. Team Supervision

  • Supervise field engineers and technicians.
  • Allocate work, monitor performance, and ensure skill development.
  • Promote safety-first culture across operations.

5. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to statutory, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct site audits and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and company policies.

6. Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on site uptime, outages, fuel consumption, and costs.
  • Support automation, remote monitoring, and digitization initiatives.
  • Identify improvement opportunities to enhance reliability and efficiency.

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Network, Deployment, and Planning teams for site upgrades and new rollouts.
  • Support troubleshooting during major outages and escalations.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of telecom utility infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with power systems, DGs, batteries, HVAC, and solar solutions
  • Vendor and SLA management
  • Cost and energy management
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and leadership abilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • Certification in Energy Management or Safety (preferred)

Experience

  • 7–12 years of experience in telecom O&M or utility management
  • Experience managing regional or cluster-level operations

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹42,000.00 per month
