About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Node.js Backend Engineer with experience building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems in the financial services or fintech domain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain backend services that power mission-critical financial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Node.js.
  • Develop scalable microservices and event-driven architectures for financial systems.
  • Implement transaction-safe, low-latency backend logic following regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Integrate with third-party banking, payment, identity verification, and financial data APIs.
  • Write clean, reusable, testable code following best practices and secure coding standards.
  • Work with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
  • Ensure best-in-class security practices, including data encryption, audit logging, and fraud detection workflows.
  • Collaborate with front-end engineers, product managers, and QA to deliver high-quality features.
  • Optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high availability.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and DevOps processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience building backend applications in Node.js (Express.js, NestJS, Fastify).
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, etc.).
  • Experience with authentication/authorization frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect).
  • Understanding of financial domain constraints such as:
  • transaction consistency,
  • data confidentiality,
  • regulatory compliance (PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC2),
  • audit/trail requirements.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong debugging, optimization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in payments, digital banking, trading, risk engines, or lending systems.
  • Knowledge of domain-driven design (DDD) and event sourcing.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch).
  • Background in computational finance or financial data processing.
