Position Overview

Motor Control Algorithm Engineer


Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize

    motor control algorithms

    (FOC, torque/speed control, regenerative braking strategies) for

    PMSM, BLDC, and induction motors

    used in EV/HEV powertrains.
  • Use

    MATLAB/Simulink

    and

    Embedded Coder

    for

    model-based design (MBD)

    , auto-code generation, and deployment to target ECUs.
  • Implement

    Clarke/Park transforms, space vector modulation, current/torque observers, and PI/field-weakening controllers

    .
  • Ensure algorithms meet

    ISO 26262 functional safety requirements

    (ASIL-level compliance).
  • Perform

    HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) validation

    and support SIL/MIL/PIL testing workflows.
  • Collaborate with hardware and system engineers on

    inverter/motor interface requirements

    .
  • Work on

    efficiency optimization

    , torque ripple minimization, and thermal management strategies for traction motors.
  • Contribute to

    FMEA, safety concept, and DFMEA reviews

    for control algorithms.
  • Support calibration, debugging, and validation during

    vehicle integration testing

    .



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in

    Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or Automotive Engineering

    .
  • PHD in motor control FOC algorithm system preferred
  • Solid knowledge of

    motor control theory

    (FOC, sensor/sensorless control, observers, and estimators).
  • Strong proficiency in

    MATLAB/Simulink

    with

    auto-code generation

    workflows.
  • Hands-on experience in

    motor drive systems for EV/HEV applications

    .
  • Good understanding of

    ISO 26262 functional safety processes

    for control software.
  • Experience with

    CAN, LIN, or Automotive Ethernet

    for ECU communication.
  • Knowledge of

    inverter hardware, current sensing, and PWM strategies

    .


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with

    AUTOSAR (Classic/Adaptive)

    and automotive-grade MCUs (NXP, Infineon, TI, ST).
  • Exposure to

    battery management systems (BMS)

    and energy optimization.
  • Familiarity with

    dSPACE, Speedgoat, or OPAL-RT HIL platforms

    .
  • Experience with

    real-time operating systems (RTOS)

    and

    C/C++ programming

    for embedded systems.
  • Strong background in

    EV functional safety V&V

    , including

    ASIL decomposition, FTTI analysis, and safety monitoring

    .

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work in a

    cross-functional team
