Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a C++ Developer specializing in 32-bit microcontrollers, located in Chennai. The primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining firmware for 32-bit microcontroller-based systems, troubleshooting and debugging code, and performing unit testing. The candidate will work closely with hardware engineers to integrate and validate designs and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements are met. Qualifications Proficiency in C++ programming and 32-bit microcontroller firmware development Experience in Linux, Buildroot or Yocto. Job Description – Motor Control Algorithm Engineer (EV/HEV, MATLAB/FOC, ISO 26262) Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Motor Control Algorithm Engineer with deep expertise in Field-Oriented Control (FOC) and Model-Based Design using MATLAB/Simulink . The role focuses on developing and validating traction motor control algorithms for Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (EV/HEV) , ensuring compliance with automotive functional safety standards (ISO 26262) . Responsibilities Develop and optimize motor control algorithms (FOC, torque/speed control, regenerative braking strategies) for PMSM, BLDC, and induction motors used in EV/HEV powertrains. Use MATLAB/Simulink and Embedded Coder for model-based design (MBD) , auto-code generation, and deployment to target ECUs. Implement Clarke/Park transforms, space vector modulation, current/torque observers, and PI/field-weakening controllers . Ensure algorithms meet ISO 26262 functional safety requirements (ASIL-level compliance). Perform HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) validation and support SIL/MIL/PIL testing workflows. Collaborate with hardware and system engineers on inverter/motor interface requirements . Work on efficiency optimization , torque ripple minimization, and thermal management strategies for traction motors. Contribute to FMEA, safety concept, and DFMEA reviews for control algorithms. Support calibration, debugging, and validation during vehicle integration testing . Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or Automotive Engineering . PHD in motor control FOC algorithm system preferred Solid knowledge of motor control theory (FOC, sensor/sensorless control, observers, and estimators). Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink with auto-code generation workflows. Hands-on experience in motor drive systems for EV/HEV applications . Good understanding of ISO 26262 functional safety processes for control software. Experience with CAN, LIN, or Automotive Ethernet for ECU communication. Knowledge of inverter hardware, current sensing, and PWM strategies . Preferred Qualifications Experience with AUTOSAR (Classic/Adaptive) and automotive-grade MCUs (NXP, Infineon, TI, ST). Exposure to battery management systems (BMS) and energy optimization. Familiarity with dSPACE, Speedgoat, or OPAL-RT HIL platforms . Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and C/C++ programming for embedded systems. Strong background in EV functional safety V&V , including ASIL decomposition, FTTI analysis, and safety monitoring . Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and documentation abilities. Ability to work in a cross-functional team (hardware, firmware, calibration, vehicle testing). Passion for e-mobility, sustainability, and innovation in automotive drive systems .
